Of course, everybody and especially an 'artist' should have the right to
create something what he believes is nice or beautiful. And if he can make
his living from this, by selling his 'art' or asking for a donation if you
visit it, then it is ok in my opinion. But in socialist time we had 'art'
that has been paid by the government - sometimes looking similar like the
art of Lucien Freud. And sometimes some rich people simply buy something ,
build a gallery and exhibit it. And if maybe other rich and lazy people
then say 'oh, how nice' then perhaps the price goes up to have such a
piece on your own. But this is nothing for 'real life', and only in some
special cases it became permanently 'famous', like art from Picasso or
Dali. But again - to like it or not is a matter of personal taste and real
circumstances of own life. If you have time and money to deal with such
'art', then you can be happy. But the majority of people has other daily
problems to make their living - and for them it does not matter at all if
it is beautiful or not.
